Chronology
1897: Born on the Greek island of Lesbos, Greece.
1916: Moved to Paris to study Law
1926: Turned to art criticism, collaborating with Cahiers d'Art
1928: In collaboration with Maurice Raynal, he is appointed columnist in l'Intransigeant
1931: Quits Cahiers d'Art
1933: Ends his collaboration with l'Intransigeant and launches the review Minotaure
1936: Departs from the editorial board of Minotaure, selling his shares to Skira's wife
1937: Meets David Smart with whom he founds the review Verve
1939: Smart departs from the publication of Verve
1940: Published two issues of Verve
1941: Moves to the free zone
1943: Published his first livre d'artiste illustrated by Georges Rouault.
